My first, but not my last.

There are times in life to think hard about what you want to do.  I am at a crossroads at work, and need to make a big decision about how to move forward.  Everything I've learned to this point teaches be to take a chance and do something out of the ordinary.

My days are spent responding to requests for information or results on various metrics of our operations.  My nights are spent trying to unwind from those moments, while thinking about how to better motivate my employees.

I have tried various scientific, behavioral, and cultural means to enhance the productivity at my workplace.  I research to obtain new information, then teach to pattern this information into my own mind. I feel fulfilled in my narrowing field of expertise.  When I came out of UF, I knew a great deal about many things, but was an expert in very few things.

I'm looking at the next 12 months as a mission to increase my understanding of our service mission, and improve my methods of managing employees.

There may continue to be turns in the road, but I look forward to them.  Changes in process, location, position, and mission make this trip what it is.  Amazing.  I'm happy by choice.  I have a wonderful wife.  We have challenges in our personal, financial, and career portions of our life, but we face them together.
